Business service grouping

Business services can be called as a logical group of monitors (e.g., servers, applications, etc.) that provides a comprehensive view of your business environment. It helps you to logically group resources such as network devices, storage devices, applications, servers and databases that meet the needs of a particular business process. This in turn allows them to be monitored as a single entity, thereby reducing complexity and providing the real-time visibility into entire IT infrastructure.

Current Scenario

In general, most of the today's applications have a multifaceted infrastructure, which require powerful tools to simplify monitoring. Moreover, they are N-Tiered and depend on various resources like servers, network devices, databases, web servers, middleware components, etc. Many of these may be even clustered for scalability and high availability. This kind of setup needs tools that help define proper correlation between resources.

Incapability of Existing Approaches

Traditional resource management systems and technology-oriented monitoring methodologies are incapable of determining the business impact of an issue in a complicated infrastructure environment. Business Services in IT360

The Business Services are accessible from the Dashboard page of the IT360 Console. Consider the below figure, where you can view the list of all available Business Services (those created by you), along with related information such as Availability, Health, Monitor Status, etc.

The detailed Summary page of each of the above listed Business Services displays the following details for all the resources:


  • Summary of the Business Service
    The overall information related to the Business Service such as Name, Availability, Health, etc.
  • Heath and Availability of the Business Service
    Monitor Downtime and Uptime Chart indicated in red and green color, respectively. Clicking on the chart takes you to the detailed Report page.
  • Recent Alarms for the Business Service
    Number of Recent Alarms (Networks, Interfaces, Storage, Servers and Applications)
  • HelpDesk Tickets Summary relevant to the Business Service
    The list of all tickets automatically logged for Network devices and Applications & Servers.
  • List of all Recent Alarms
    The list of all Recent Alarms along with details such as Type, Status, Message and Time
  • Top Applications by Response Time (ms)
    The list of all Applications with high priority, along with minimum, maximum and average response time.
  • Top Servers by Response Time (ms)
    The list of all Servers with high priority, along with minimum, maximum and average response time.
  • Top Servers by CPU utilization (%)
    The list of all Servers with high priority, along with minimum, maximum and average CPU utilization.
