This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
By using J2EE Web Transaction Monitor, you would be able to do the following;
Monitor End-to-End Web Transactions, starting from the URL to SQL.
Have a drill down view of the WEB components, EJB, Java and SQL statements of the URL.
Monitor Individual methods of the various J2EE and Java components, in order to identify performance bottlenecks.
PreRequisite: J2EE Web Transaction Monitor requires an agent, to be plugged in the Application server (like JBoss), to be monitored. Know more about the agent.
Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.
Click the Admin tab in the header pane.
Click Discover/Add under Discovery.
Choose the option Add from the Add / Discover type dropdown and select the Application radio button.
In the Add New Monitor wizard displayed, click J2EE Web Transactions under Application Servers (see this screenshot). In the Add Monitor wizard displayed, do the following:
Enter a Display Name for the server.
Enter the Host Name or the IP Address of the Host, whose web transactions you want to monitor.
Enter the SubNetMask of the network. (The subnet mask determines the maximum number of hosts on a subnetwork)
Provide the Port number, in which the J2EE web transaction agent is running. (Default is 55555)
Enter the Polling interval time, in minutes. Default is 5 minutes. (The time interval to monitor the different parameters configured for a Monitor)
Now, Associate the above Monitor Instances to a Business Service. i.e. choose the Business Service, to which you want to associate the J2EE Web Transaction monitor. If no Business Service is found, Create one by clicking the Create New Business Service link.
In the case of Professional Edition, it is Business Service [optional].
In the case of Enterprise Edition - Probe, it is Business Service [optional].
In the case of MSP Edition - Probe, it is Customer and Site [mandatory].
Note : The J2EE Web Transaction Monitor supports JDK1.5 only.
