Managing and Unmanaging a Device

This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).

By default, IT360 manages all the discovered network nodes / devices. However, out of those, a few might be in store / maintenance mode. Such devices cannot respond to the status polls sent out by IT360. They can be set to unmanaged status, so that IT360 does not do a status poll or data collection.

Steps to Unmanage a Device

To unmanage a particular device, do the following;

  1. Go to the Device snapshot page.

  2. Under Actions, click on the Unmanage link.

This stops the status polling and also the data collection for the device. The device icon changes to Gray (as shown in the below screenshot), indicating that the device has been unmanaged.

Steps to Manage a Device

To start managing an unmanaged device, follow the steps below;

  1. Go to the Device snapshot page.

  2. Under Actions, click on the Manage link.

This resumes the status polling and data collection for the device. The status icon shows the current status of the device. The device icon changes to Green (as shown in the 1st screenshot), indicating that the device has been managed.
