Associate Monitors

This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition - Central Server and Probes and MSP Edition - Central Server and Probes.

Many times during monitoring critical IT related business service, there are certain components which might have been missed or added recently. In order to add them, the user can use the Associate Monitors link within the particular business service/sub-group to add the missing components. Ensure that the particular monitor (device/application/server/database) is added before starting this process.

To associate Monitor to a Business Service/Sub-group, follow the given steps below:

  1. Click on the particular Business Service/Sub-group (from Home tab) for which the particular monitor needs to be added.

  2. Click on Associate Monitors' link.This will invoke the business service wizard.

  3. The business wizard will begin from Associate Network Devices option. If the user needs to add any network device, select the particular device by checking against the check box provided in the list. Once selected, click on either Finish to finish the process or if the user still need to add applications and servers, click on Next option.

  4. The next option would be Associate Servers & Applications option. Similar to the previous step, select appropriate server/application/database by checking the check box which needs to be added and click on Finish to finish the process.

  5. The user can also add a montior at ad-hoc basis while running the wizard. Click on Associate Monitors for the particular business service/sub-group. Under Associate Network Devices option, click on Add Devices. Select the right type of device from the pull-down menu and then provide the correct credential and click Add. This will automatically list the device in the list of network devices being monitored. However it is still not associated to the business service/sub-group.

  6. Select the device that the user has configured through business service wizard. Click on the check box associated to the device and click Finish. This will associate the device to the particular business service/sub-group.

  7. Similar procedure follows for adding applications/servers/databases in an ad-hoc basis while running the wizard. Start the business service wizard as mentioned in step 2 above. Click Next until you reach Associate Servers and Applications option. Click on Add Applications.

  8. Select the right type of application/server/database/custom monitor. Provide the correct credentials. Then click on Add to add the monitor into IT360 for performance monitoring. Click on the check box associated with the monitor and then click Finish to associate the monitor to the business service/sub-group.
Note: The type of the monitor being displayed can be filtered by selecting the category from the dropdown box against label 'Show'. The status of Business Service/Sub-group would remain Unknown, until you associate atleast one monitor to it.
