This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
You can discover devices on a network, by either specifying a range or the entire network.
IT360 uses ICMP/Nmap, to discover the devices on a network, and configure under the Networks module.
To discover devices from a selected range, specify the Start and End IP addresses and select the Netmask for the devices, to be discovered within that range.
Go to 'Admin --> Networks --> Discover Devices'.
Now, you can discover the range of devices, in any one of the below ways;
Discover Using IP Range:
Select the option: Use IP Range, and enter the following details;
For Professional & Enterprise Editions:
Start IP: Specify the IP address of the device, in the range, from where IT360 should start discovery.
End IP: Specify the IP address, till which IT360 should discover.
Netmask: Select the correct netmask.
Note: Credentials are required for collecting data for various parameters through SNMP, WMI/Windows, or Telnet/SSH protocols. When you choose all credentials by checking 'Select All', the appropriate credentials for the device will be detected automatically and get mapped to the device.
For MSP Edition:
You need to configure the below details, in addition to the above a-d;
Customer Name: Choose the name of the Customer, whose devices need to be discovered.
- Site Name: Choose the name of the Site, the devices under which need to be discovered.
Note: In order to select the Customer/Site, you should have Added the Customer/Site.
Discover a Complete Network Using CIDR:
Specify the Network IP to discover the entire network.
Select the option: Use CIDR, and enter the following details;
For Professional & Enterprise Editions:
Network IP: Specify the Network IP to be discovered.
Note: Credentials are required for collecting data for various parameters through SNMP, WMI/Windows, or Telnet/SSH protocols. When you choose all credentials by checking 'Select All', the appropriate credentials for the device will be detected automatically and get mapped to the device.
For MSP Edition:
You need to configure the below details, in addition to the above a & b;
Customer Name: Choose the name of the Customer, whose devices need to be discovered.
- Site Name: Choose the name of the Site, the devices under which need to be discovered.
Note: In order to select the Customer/Site, you should have Added the Customer/Site.
Discover Using CSV File Import:
You can import a set of IP addresses for discovery from a csv file.
Select the option: CSV File Import, and enter the following details;
For Professional & Enterprise Editions:
Create a csv file (as shown below), with the details such as, Name/ IPAddress of the device, DisplayName and DevicType. Enter the following details in the respective fields;
File location: Click on the Browse button and select the CSV file, from which you want the devices to be discovered and imported.
View: Click this button to view the CSV file columns. Refer the screenshots below.
Note: Credentials are required for collecting data for various parameters through SNMP, WMI/Windows, or Telnet/SSH protocols. When you choose all credentials by checking 'Select All', the appropriate credentials for the device will be detected automatically and get mapped to the device.
For MSP Edition:
You need to configure the below details, in addition to the above a-d;
Customer Name: Choose the name of the Customer, whose devices need to be discovered.
Site Name: Choose the name of the Site, the devices under which need to be discovered.
Note: In order to select the Customer/Site, you should have Added the Customer/Site.
Note: The SNMP Read/Write communities, or passwords, specified during discovery configuration, is used for monitoring the devices.
All the discovered devices are listed category-wise (Refer the below screenshot).
Now, you can import those devices, by following steps;
Click on Finish, once the devices are added under IT360's Networks module, to complete the process and go to the 'Admin' page.
