Creating a S3-compatible repository

This section explains how to configure cloud backup repositories that support the S3 API. In addition to native cloud storage options, you can integrate third-party S3-compatible storage services to store and manage your backups.

Prerequisites

Creating a S3-compatible repository

  1. Log in to RecoveryManager Plus and navigate to Admin tab > Administration > Backup Repository > Cloud.
  2. Click the Add Repository button in the top-right corner.
  3. Select S3 Compatible from the Storage Service drop-down menu.
  4. Enter a name in the Repository Name field.
  5. Enter the Endpoint's URL in the Service Endpoint field.
  6. Enter the Access Key and Secret Access Key.
  7. Enter the Bucket Name.

Note: Metadata of the Microsoft 365, on-premises Exchange, Google Workspace, and Zoho WorkDrive backups will be stored in the default Elasticsearch node.

  8. Click Save.

Once you've created the cloud storage repository, you can view the following information:

You can also perform the following operations:

Refresh repository details

To fetch the status of the connected repository, click the refresh icon icon-refresh located in the Action column of the repository.

Update existing repository

Click the edit icon icon-edit under the Action column of the repository to modify the repository name and click Save.

Delete existing repository

Click the delete icon icon-delete under the Action column of the repository that you wish to delete.

Note: Deleting a configured repository will permanently delete all backup files in the repository, and you'll not be able to perform any restorations.

To learn how to generate the access key and secret access key required to configure S3-compatible backup repositories such as Backblaze, Storj, and IDrive e2, follow the steps linked below.

Other S3-compatible storage services can also be configured similarly, though the steps may vary depending on the provider.
