Amazon FSx File System Monitoring

Amazon FSx File System - Overview

Amazon FSx is a fully managed file storage service that makes it easy to launch and run popular high-performance file systems on AWS. It supports four file system types - FSx for Windows File Server, FSx for Lustre, FSx for NetApp ONTAP, and FSx for OpenZFS - each optimized for specific workloads such as Windows-based enterprise applications, high-performance computing (HPC) and machine learning, enterprise storage management, and ZFS-compatible workloads.

Monitoring Amazon FSx File System is essential for ensuring optimal performance, capacity planning, and availability of your managed file storage infrastructure. Applications Manager's Amazon FSx File System monitoring tool provides comprehensive visibility into key parameters such as storage capacity utilization, client throughput and I/O operations, file server performance, disk metrics, and file system-type-specific metrics for ONTAP, Lustre, and OpenZFS workloads.

With real-time insights, threshold-based alerts, and historical trend analysis, you can proactively identify performance bottlenecks and maintain the health of your file storage systems.

Monitored Parameters

Go to the Monitors Category View by clicking the Monitors tab. Click on the FSx File System instance available under Amazon in the Cloud Apps section. Displayed below is the Amazon FSx File System bulk configuration view distributed into three tabs:

  • Availability tab gives the availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • Performance tab gives the health status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • List view tab enables you to perform bulk admin configurations.

By clicking a monitor from the list, you will be taken to the Amazon FSx File System dashboard which includes the following tabs:
