AWS Direct Connect / Direct Connect - Virtual Interface Monitoring

Overview

AWS Direct Connect enables you to set up a dedicated, private connection between your on-premises infrastructure and AWS. By bypassing the public internet, it delivers faster, more secure, and more reliable connectivity for workloads and data transfers. Applications Manager’s AWS Direct Connect monitor helps track the availability, usage, and performance of these connections to ensure consistent network communication.

A Virtual Interface (VIF) defines how your connection routes traffic to AWS. Depending on your use case, you can connect to AWS public services (Public VIF), a single VPC (Private VIF), or multiple VPCs through a Transit Gateway (Transit VIF). Applications Manager’s Direct Connect — VIF monitor provides visibility into the health and performance of each interface, helping detect and resolve connectivity issues proactively.

Monitored Parameters

Go to the Monitors Category View by clicking the Monitors tab. Click on the Direct Connect/Direct Connect - Virtual Interface instance available under Amazon in the Cloud Apps section. Displayed is the Amazon Direct Connect bulk configuration view distributed into three tabs:

  • Availability tab gives the availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • Performance tab gives the health status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • List view tab enables you to perform bulk admin configurations.

Click on the monitor name to see all the AWS Direct Connect metrics listed under the following tabs:
