This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
To monitor an Amazon (Web Services Account), EC2 Instances, RDS Instances and S3 Buckets you should have Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. To get these details follow the steps given below.
Login to AWS Management Console and go to Account.
Select Security Credentials and go to Access Credentials. This lists all available access keys to make secure REST or Query protocol requests to any AWS service API. Now select any one Access Key ID and corresponding Secret Access Key.
|Note: Before creating a new Amazon monitor, you have to Configure proxy settings under 'Admin' tab.|
To create a new Amazon monitor, follow the steps given below:
Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.
Click the Admin tab in the header pane.
Click Discover/Add under Discovery.
Choose the option Add from the Discover/Add type dropdown and select the Application radio button.
In the Add New Monitor wizard displayed, click Amazon under Cloud Apps (see this screenshot). In the Add Monitor wizard displayed, do the following:
Specify the Display Name of the Amazon server.
Enter the Access Key Id of the AWS, for accessing the AWS through the API. The access key has 20 alpha-numeric characters.
Enter the Secret Access Key of the AWS. The secret key should be 40 alpha-numeric characters long.
Specify the Polling interval, in minutes. (The time interval to monitor the different parameters configured for a Monitor)
Now, Associate the above Monitor Instances to a Business Service. i.e. choose the Business Service, to which you want to associate Amazon, from the combo box. If no Business Service is found, Create one by clicking the Create New Business Service link.
In the case of Professional Edition, it is Business Service [optional]
In the case of Enterprise Edition - Probe, it is Business Service [optional]
In the case of MSP Edition - Probe, it is Customer and Site [mandatory]
