Device Down Settings

OpManager versions above 125215 now support customization of device down severities. You can edit the poll count, severity and the message for device severity alarms to be displayed when the device is down.

To customize device down settings,

  1. Go to Settings -> Configuration -> Device Down Settings.
  2. Edit the following fields.
    • No.of Failed Polls: Number of polls after which OpManager should raise the alarm. For example, if the monitoring interval of a device is 5 mins and the number of polls is 2, the alert will only be generated after 10 mins.
    • Severity: The severity of that particular alarm.
    • Availability Alarm Message: The message to be displayed when the alarm is raised.
  3. Click on Save.

Note:

  1. The device availability alarm severities will also be changed based on the severity configured in this page.
  2. If the device down severity property is changed here, the notification profiles or any associated workflows should also be updated accordingly.

Device Down Settings in Central

From version 12.8.703, Device Down Settings is now available in the Central Settings page, enabling centralized configuration management across probes.

  • When you click the Save button from the Central Settings page, OpManager will prompt you to confirm whether the configuration should be pushed to probes.

  • If you select Yes, a probe selection panel will appear, allowing you to choose which probes should receive the updated configuration.
  • Device Down Association

  • Once the desired probes are selected and you click Associate, the Device Down Settings configuration will be pushed to those probes.

Note:

The settings will only be applied to probes if you click Yes when prompted. Clicking No saves the configuration in Central without pushing it to any probe. Since device monitoring is managed only at the probe level, the current values on the probes will remain unaffected until you choose to push the configuration.

To automatically sync updates across all probes without manual probe selection, enable Centralized Configuration under Settings -> General Settings -> System Settings -> Enterprise Settings. When enabled, clicking Save will automatically sync the updated values to all existing and newly added probes.
