ManageEngine Enhances Password Manager Pro with Provision for SIEM Integration

Award-Winning Password Manager Pro a Critical Component of a Holistic Security Management Platform

AUSTIN, TX, March 2, 2010 ManageEngine, makers of a globally renowned suite of cost effective network, systems, applications and security management software solutions, today announced a new version of the company’s Privileged Password Management solution, Password Manager Pro, featuring real-time alerting on audit events and integration with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions for a more comprehensive information security and IT compliance infrastructure.

While Privileged Password Management deals more with the 'protective' aspect of securely storing administrative passwords and restricting access to passwords, 'detective' provisions to monitor password management operations and user activities are highly essential from the standpoint of preventing/identifying insider-threats and ensuring compliance to numerous industry and government IT regulations.

The latest release of Password Manager Pro generates SNMP traps and Syslog messages whenever an activity/event - including password access, modification or any other occurrence -takes places within the ManageEngine application. These traps/syslog messages can be sent to a third-party SIEM tool, which can thoroughly analyze and correlate the data from Password Manager Pro with other network events. This results in a more secure infrastructure with an in-depth and holistic view of overall network activity.

"The new integration with SIEM allows security administrators and auditors to monitor privileged account access and activities from a single console and reconcile security incidents to possible privileged access abuse,” said Rajesh Ganesan, Director of Product Management at ManageEngine. “With insider threats looming large, specifically due to privileged account access, this ability to quickly understand the root of a security event makes it possible to rapidly respond to attacks and always be in complete control of the computing environment.”

“Password Manager Pro has greatly increased our ability to ensure password compliance and proper escrow of system password throughout our environment,” said Shane Wendel, Texas A&M Health Science Center. “It allows us to take swift, comprehensive action in the case of an IT personnel change. Password Manager Pro also provides a much more tolerable mechanism for the mundane, but necessary, task of system password rotation through an intuitive interface.”

The new version of Password Manager Pro also includes a number of other enterprise-class features, which make it a powerful tool for achieving infrastructure security.

Availability & Pricing

Password Manager Pro can be downloaded directly from the ManageEngine website. The software is available in two Editions - Standard and Premium - with a 30-day evaluation license of the Premium Edition available. A permanent Free Edition is also available for small businesses.
