How to force users with soon to expire passwords, to change their password during the next logon?

Objective: Identify all users whose passwords will be expiring within a specified time, and force them to change their password.

Solution: Use ADManager Plus's Soon-to-Expire User Passwords report to identify the relevant users and use the built-in management options to enable the 'change password at next logon' option.

Using the Soon-to-Expire User Passwords report

  1. Click the Reports tab.
  2. Go to Password Reports. Under Password Status Reports, click the Soon-to-Expire User Passwords report.
  3. Select the Domains for which you wish to generate this report. Restrict this report to specific OUs using the Add OUs link.
  4. Select the time period for which you wish to and hit the Generate button to view this report.
  5. Once the report is generated, select the necessary users.
  6. Click the Change Password at Next Logon button located right above the report data. In the confirmation message that is displayed, click OK to complete this action.
