Steps to Configure Account Expiry / Soon-to-Expire Password Notification:

With ADSelfService Plus, the administrator will be able to schedule reports for Soon to Expire Password Users in his Domain.

In-order to Schedule Reports for Soon to Expire Password Users, the administrator has to configure settings on when the reports are to be scheduled and preset a time when the Locked Out Users report is to be scheduled.

  1. Select "Configuration" tab --->> "Self-Service" -->> "Password Expiry Notification"

  2. Click on "Add New Notification"

  3. Enter the "Scheduler Name" and "Description" for the schedule.

  4. Select the desired Domain(s) or OU(s) or Group(s).

  5. Select the "Notification Type" from the Drop Down List box ( "Password Expiry Notification" or "Account Expiry Notification")

  6. Select the medium through which notification should be sent. You can choose either Email or SMS or Push Notification.

  7. Set the "Notification Frequency"

  8. Daily AT - "Specify time of Day"

  9. Weekly ON and AT - "Specify the day of week and time of the day"

  10. On Specific Days -"Multiple days can be entered."

  11. Click on "Schedule Time" to specify the time at which the mail will be delivered.

  12. 'Enter the date / day (s)' based on which the user will be notified of his/her password/account expiry.

  13. Type the "Subject" of the message in their respective box.

  14. Then type the "SMS/Mail/Push Notification Content" in the space provided for it.

    The notification message can be customized as desired by the administrator using the various macros and mail settings provided. To learn more about the different options, click here.

  15. Click 'Save' to store the configure settings.

Enable Password Expiry Notification:

While sending a password expiry notification to Domain Users, the notification message can be customized as desired by the administrator using the various macros and settings provided.



  • Administrators can email a user either by his/her "initials", "displayName" or any of the other supported attributes.


    Supported LDAP Attributes: "givenName", "sn", "initials", "displayName", "userPrincipalName", "sAMAccountName", "name", "mail", "distinguishedName"  


  • Also multiple instances of supported attributes in the message, is supported while notifying users.


    Eg: FirstName_LastName can be specified as %initial%_%sn%



  • This link allows you to set the priority of the mails being sent for password and account expiration notifiers.
    The different mail priorirtes that can be set are High, Medium and Low. Administrators can configure the priority of the mail based on the number of days before the users' password is about to expire.

  • You can also attach any valid file ( <25 MB) along with the notification mail.


  • Make sure the push notification content (Subject + Message) size does not exceed approximately 185 characters. If it does, the content will be shortened to fit the character limit. Approximate limit for non-English characters: 60 for Japanese and Chinese, 95 for Arabic and Russian, 185 for Spanish, German and Italian, and 178 for French, Swedish, and Polish.


  • Also, make sure the SMS Notification content does not exceed the character limit set by your SMS service provider.

Advanced settings:


After setting up a scheduler, configure the advanced settings for password expiry notifications and notification delivery status reports. To specify the required settings, click on the "Advanced" button in the Soon-To-Expire Password/Account Notification page.
