How to apply Windows patches when high availability is enabled in ADManager Plus

High availability in ManageEngine ADManager Plus ensures that the product is up and running at all times without any downtime. This page explains how high availability-enabled ADManager Plus instances work while you apply Windows patches.

  1. We recommended that you backup your ADManager Plus' database as a precautionary measure before installing patches. To backup the database, refer to this page.
  2. Stop ADManager Plus in the primary server and apply the Windows patch. This will trigger the ADManger Plus instance in the standby server to become operational.
  3. Once the patch has been applied, start ADManager Plus in the primary server.
  4. Stop ADManager Plus in the standby server and apply the Windows patch. While the standby server is down, ADManager Plus instance in the primary server will continue to serve user requests.
  5. Once the patch has been applied, start ADManager Plus in the standby server.

Windows patches have now been applied to the primary server and the standby server, and both can be online.
