Folder Permissions and Access Reporting

Folders store files or subfolders. Administrators store important documents and files in folders. This makes folder management absolutely important to protect the folders from unauthorized access and hence maintain NTFS folder security. Management of folders is a cumbersome process as it requires regular monitoring of the NTFS file system permissions to ensure security. The vital folders must be made non-inheritable to avoid any breach to the files .To make this possible, it is very important to monitor the windows NTFS file permissions on the folders. With "permissions for folders" report, administrators can analyze the windows folder permissions and thus take measures to enhance NTFS folder security.

Permissions for Folders Report:

ADManager Plus generates NTFS folder permissions report for Active Directory users/ groups on folders. NTFS Permissions for Folders report lists all Users/Groups that have access permissions on folders in a specified path. The associated access control entries clearly indicate the level of access (a user/group has on a folder) and also specifies the inheritable permissions, if any. This File and Directory permission report can also be used as NTFS permissions analyzer for folders to ensure that the right access has been given to the folders. Thus, administrators can easily secure their folders by monitoring these NTFS security permissions on the folders.

ADManager Plus provides IT Managers with an at-a-glance dashboard view of the reports on all users, groups, objects and more, to assist in making informed decisions.

The role of an IT Administrator is to manage all network resources, for which up-to-date information on all users, objects, groups along with knowledge of account status of users, is required. The administrator has to perform management tasks like user creation, password resets, unlock user accounts, delete users, enable or disable users, move user home folders and more. ADManager Plus helps IT Administrators in creating and modifying users and objects in "bulk", using a CSV file and Templates. It also provides the facility to generate reports on specific attributes on Active Directory and perform management functions from these Reports.

Help Desks techs are loaded with routine management tasks "delegated" to them by the administrator which involve password resets, account unlocks, user creation and other management functions. ADManager Plus provides the administrator with privileges to delegate specific roles to help desk technicians and restricted to one or more Organizational Units. Help Desk techicians can manage users that have been delegated to them from ADManager Plus web console easily even with little knowledge of command lines and scripts.

ADManager Plus allows end users to self-update their own personal information in Active Directory in real time. This helps in keeping information in the Active Directory current and up-to-date and reduces the help desk burden to a great extent. With an ADSearch feature, ADManager Plus acts as a web-based telephone index.
