Monitor Costly Missing Indexes

Whenever a query is executed by the SQL server, it creates an index. These indexes will have varying degrees of impact on performance of the database. Hence it is vital to find out the list of missing indexes and monitor them to ensure smoother operation. SQLDBManager Plus captures the list of cost of missing indexes and displays the data in a tabular format. This data is sorted by:

  • Total Cost
  • Average User Impact
  • Table Name
  • Equality Usage
  • Inequality Usage
  • Include Columns

SQLDBManager Plus also allows the DBA to configure alarms for the Total Cost. Whenever the threshold value of Total Cost is breached, the DBA gets instant notification making it easier for the DBA to troubleshoot the problem quickly.
