Endpoint Central MSP - Readme

Welcome to ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP - an easy-to- install, ready-to-use product that eases desktop administration by providing access to almost all desktop administrative functions from a single point.

Requirements

  1. Endpoint Central MSP requires Active Directory based Windows 2000/2003/2008 Domain setup / Workgroup setup.
  2. Other directory services like Novell, can be managed as a Workgroup Setup.
  3. Endpoint Central MSP can be run on any workstation with proper credentials.
  4. Does not support versions prior to Windows 2000

Working with Endpoint Central MSP

Starting Endpoint Central MSP

Endpoint Central MSP can be started in any of the following ways:

  1. Double-click the ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP icon from the desktop.
  2. Select Start --> Programs --> ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP --> Start Endpoint Central MSP

Starting the Endpoint Central MSP automatically launches the client in the default browser.

Note: When Endpoint Central MSP is started in Windows XP / Windows 2003 machines with firewall enabled, Windows will pop up security alerts asking whether to block or unblock the the following programs:
  1. Postgres - Database server
  2. Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary - Java.

You should Unblock these programs to start Endpoint Central MSP.

Starting Endpoint Central MSP Client

  1. Open a JavaScript-enabled Web Browser. For example, Internet Explorer.
  2. Type http://localhost:8040 OR http://Host Name:8040 in the address bar and press "Enter". 
    Note: By default, Endpoint Central MSP runs on port 8040.
  3. In the login page enter a valid user name and password. This provides an authenticated access to Endpoint Central MSP. By default, the user name and password are "admin" and "admin" respectively.
  4. Click "Login".
  5. The Endpoint Central MSP Client is launched in the Web browser.

Stopping Endpoint Central MSP

To stop Endpoint Central MSP, Select Start --> Programs --> ManageEngine Endpoint Central --> Stop Endpoint Central OR run the script shutdownDesktopCentral.bat located in<DesktopCentral_Home>/bin directory.

To uninstall Endpoint Central, select Start --> Programs --> ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP --> Uninstall
