Microsoft 365 management templates

When organizations adopt Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365), IT admins are tasked with creating and managing Microsoft 365 accounts for users already present in Active Directory (AD). Subsequently, when new employees are onboarded, the IT team has to provision users across AD, Microsoft 365, Exchange, and other applications. How do the Microsoft 365 management templates work?

As a one-time process, admins can create a new modification template to assign licenses and configure group memberships; Microsoft 365 roles; Exchange Online properties for mailbox users; protocols like IMAP4, MAPI, and POP3; and policies related to sharing, role assignment, and more. Once the above values are defined in the template, it can be saved and reused repeatedly. When this template is selected for Microsoft 365 modification, all the attributes of the new users will automatically be populated with the corresponding attributes in the template.

The template offers a drag-and-drop customization option with which admins can make specific attributes hidden, editable, mandatory, or read-only. The Copy User Attributes feature enables them to use and apply the values from an existing user's settings to modify other users quickly. Admins can also employ modification rules to automatically update certain fields whenever a user is modified.

ADManager Plus allows admins to create and delete multiple templates, set a default template, and copy the values of one template to another template. Admins can also securely delegate user creation and modification templates to help desk technicians.
