These are the questions asked during Combat Server and VM monitoring challenges training.
How is the Applications Manager different from OpManager? Applications Manager can monitor the performance of various applications such as servers, VMs, databases, cloud, services, etc. Whereas OpManager can monitor the performance of network devices, servers, VMs, etc.
How do we decide whether to choose an Azure VM or Windows server type? If the AppManager is setup in Azure cloud or has access to the target Azure VMs, you can add then as a Windows monitor. The mode of collecting data will be WMI or SNMP. The data collected also will be different. If you monitor via Azure Cloud VM option, data collection will happen via Rest API (via Azure App) and the metrics returned also will be different. Based on your current network setup or the metrics required, you can either add as a Windows monitor or Azure VM.
Entire list of parameters monitored is available in https://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/help/windows-azure.html#parameter
If I have added a Linux server by default, it will show all the processes running in it, and I can select from them which one I can monitor or manually have to add all the processes? There are 2 options to add the process monitor:
1. Manually add from the Linux / Windows server page. You will have an individual add process option on the monitor page.
2. Through the Process Template. If you add the process in this template, it will automatically add the process to all the server monitors.
