Microsoft Azure Log Analytics Workspace - An Overview

Azure Log Analytics Workspace is a centralized data store in Azure Monitor that collects and analyzes log and performance data from monitored resources. Applications Manager's Azure Log Analytics Workspace monitoring tracks user queries and failures, data ingestion, ingestion latency, data exports and exported records, export failures and query availability to help you monitor workspace activity and data processing.

Monitored Parameters

Navigate to the Category View by clicking the Monitors tab. Hover over 'Child Monitors' under Microsoft Azure in the Cloud Apps table, and then select the Log Analytics Workspaces monitor from the displayed tooltip. This action will display the bulk configuration view for Microsoft Azure Log Analytics Workspace in three tabs:

  • Availability tab gives the availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • Performance tab gives the health status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
  • List view tab enables you to perform bulk admin configurations.

Total QueriesThe number of queries executed against the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals.
Total Failure QueriesThe number of failed user queries for the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals.
QUERY AVAILABILITY RATE
Query Availability RateThe average user query success rate of the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals (in %).
INGESTION VOLUME
Ingestion VolumeThe number of records ingested into the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals.
INGESTION TIME
Ingestion TimeThe average end-to-end ingestion latency of the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals (in s).
DATA EXPORTED
Data ExportedThe total number of data exported per the specified data export rule to the specified destination from the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals (in MB).
FAILED EXPORTS
Failed ExportsThe total number of data exports failed per the specified data export rule to the specified destination of the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals.
RECORDS EXPORTED
Records ExportedThe total number of records exported per the specified data export rule to the specified destination from the Azure Log Analytics Workspace between the poll intervals.

Resource Group NameThe name of the Azure resource group that contains the Log Analytics workspace.
LocationThe Azure region where the Log Analytics workspace is deployed.
Provisioning StateThe provisioning state of the workspace. Possible values: Creating, Succeeded, Failed, Canceled, Deleting, ProvisioningAccount, Updating.
SKU NameThe SKU of the Log Analytics workspace. Possible values: Free, Standard, Premium, PerNode, PerGB2018, Standalone, CapacityReservation, LACluster.
Creation TimeThe timestamp when the Log Analytics workspace was created.
Last Modified TimeThe timestamp when the Log Analytics workspace was last modified.
Customer IDThe read-only ID associated with the Log Analytics workspace.
Public Network Access For IngestionThe network access type for accessing Log Analytics ingestion. Possible values: Enabled, Disabled, SecuredByPerimeter.
Public Network Access For QueryThe network access type for accessing Log Analytics queries. Possible values: Enabled, Disabled, SecuredByPerimeter.
Retention DaysThe number of days for which workspace data is retained. Allowed values depend on the pricing plan.
