Mailbox Rights

Set Mailbox Rights in Microsoft Exchange Server

Mailboxes hold important emails, business contacts, event calendars, appointment schedules of users. Hence administrators, apart from creating mailboxes, should exercise ample control to ensure the security of the user mailbox by setting appropriate rights on them. As a part of their duty, Exchange Administrators create a huge number of mailboxes and configure their properties quite often. But with Exchange clearly not designed for bulk administrative operation, an administrator cannot "set mailbox rights for bulk user mailboxes" in a simple way and has to depend on the complex option of PowerShell to perform any operation in bulk. Moreover, the existing system does not allow administrators to delegate incipient exchange tasks like setting mailbox rights without abstraction of rights to help desks. This makes it extremely difficult for the administrators to manage the mailboxes as they have to set mailbox rights (only one at a time) using the Exchange Management shell one of the Exchange Server's native tool. Therefore, administrators must scout for a software solution that aid in the management of bulk objects in the Microsoft Exchange Server.

With ADManager Plus - Windows Active directory Management, Reporting and Delegation tool offers the following distinct advantages that help in efficient management of the user mailbox:

  • Administrators need not juggle with Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013/2016, Exchange Server 2003, Exchange System Manager and Exchange Management Shell to just set mailbox rights for users.
  • Administrators can manage ADUC, Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013/2016 and Exchange Server 2003 from just a single ADManager Plus console.
  • Using the ADManager templates, administrators can set mailbox rights for bulk users in a single click.
  • What makes ADManager Plus standout is the ability to allow even help desks to set mailbox rights without altering the rights of the help desks in the Active Directory.

Prominent usage of ADManager Plus in various business environments

Backing up of emails:

Administrators need to have "full mailbox permissions "on all the mailbox enabled users ’ mailbox in order to smoothly back up the emails of users. But, with the existing Exchange Management architecture ,administrators can set mailbox rights for mailbox enabled users only on "one user mailbox at a time". This puts a heavy burden on the administrator and makes the task extremely time consuming . But with ADManager Plus, administrators can set mailbox rights to bulk users in a single click! Thus, administrators save a lot of time, as they back up emails in a jiffy!

During auditing, administrators need to scrutinize every user mailbox to ensure there are no security breaches. To scrutinize the mailboxes, again, administrators must have full permissions on all the users’ mailbox. Using ADManager Plus, administrators can set "full access permissions" on a bulk of user mailboxes in a flash and gain access to every mailbox. This saves a lot of time for administrators, while helping them carry out the auditing process in a hassle free manner.

Common Exchange mailbox for Customer Support/Service team:

Administrators prefer to create a common mailbox for support executives, with equal permissions, so that client’s requests are answered promptly by any available support executive. But with the, existing Exchange Management architecture, administrators can set full access permissions to only one user at a time. This makes it extremely time-consuming for administrators who are supposed to assign full access permissions to a large number of support executives. But, using ADManager Plus, administrators can set full access permissions to bulk users in a single click. This saves a lot of time and effort for administrators.
