Why isn't my custom widget showing up after I added it to a new dashboard tab in ADManager Plus?
Last updated on:Issue description
In ADManager Plus, when a custom widget is added to a newly created dashboard tab, it may not display immediately or might not appear at all. This can lead to confusion or delays in monitoring critical data for administrators.
Possible causes
- A browser cache delay may prevent the newly added widget from appearing immediately. Refreshing the dashboard manually can help.
- The widget might not have been saved properly during the creation process.
- The technician's role may not include the necessary permissions to view specific reports or dashboard tabs.
Prerequisites
- The necessary delegated permissions to view and modify the dashboard and the report you intend to add as a widget.
- You have selected a valid report, including those that require filters or user input.
Resolution
Step 1: Re-add the widget
- Log in to ADManager Plus.
- Go to the Reports tab and open the report you want to add as a widget.
- Apply any necessary filters such as organizational unit (OU) or time-based filters.
- Click More and select Add To Dashboard.
- In the Add To Dashboard pop-up window:
- In the Tab Name field, either select an existing tab or create a new one by entering a name and clicking the plus icon +.
- In the Widget Name field, choose an existing widget or enter a new name and click the plus icon +.
- In the Report Name field, provide a name for the report and click Add.
- Navigate to the Home tab and verify if the new tab and widget appear on the dashboard.
Step 2: Check technician permissions
- Go to Delegation > Help Desk Delegation > Help Desk Roles.
- Search for the help desk role assigned to the technician who cannot view or add the widget, and click the Edit icon.
- Under the Administration tab, in the General section, ensure Dashboard Customization is enabled.
- Under the AD Reports tab, verify that the specific report associated with the widget is selected.
- Click Update if any required permissions are missing.
Step 3: Refresh the dashboard
- Click the refresh domain widgets icon.
- Log out of ADManager Plus and log back in.
Tips
- Use unique names for tabs and widgets to prevent accidental overwrites.
- If multiple admins are managing the dashboard simultaneously, refresh your session before making changes.
- Clear your browser cache regularly to avoid display issues or missing elements.
