Issue description
When executing an automation or scheduled task in ADManager Plus, you may encounter the following error:
Unable to find the specified file location. Ensure that you have the necessary NTFS/Share permissions to access the specified file.
Possible causes
- Incorrect file path or spelling errors in the configured automation.
- The file referenced in the automation does not exist in the specified location.
- The ADManager Plus service is not running with the correct user account.
- Ensure that the service account running ADManager Plus doesn't have Read permissions over the file.
- The file path configure in automation cannot be accessed from the ADManager Plus server.
Resolution
Step 1: Verify service account permissions
- Open services.msc.
- Locate ManageEngine ADManager Plus.
- Check the Log On account and ensure it has access to the file location.
- Assign the read permission over NTFS and Share that is configure in the automation.
Step 2: Validate file path and naming
- Confirm that the file path in the automation script is correct.
- Check for spelling errors or missing extensions.
- Verify that the file is not missing from the specified folder.
Step 3: Ensure file accessibility from ADManager Plus server
- Log in to the ADManager Plus server.
- Open File Explorer and manually navigate to the file path.
- Ensure that the file is accessible without additional authentication prompts.
Tips
- Use UNC paths (\\server\share\file.csv) instead of mapped drives.
- Assign Read, Execute and Modify permissions to the ADManager Plus service account.
- Regularly verify that shared files are not moved or deleted.
