Microsoft licenses come at a price, which is why it's important to sift through your Active Directory (AD) periodically and remove unused licenses from disabled users. Using ADManager Plus' Delete/Disable Policy and automation capabilities, you can automatically revoke Microsoft 365 licenses and save on license costs.
Delete/Disable Policy in ADManager Plus
ADManager Plus' Delete/Disable Policy allows administrators to configure domain-level policies to clean up associated resources whenever a user is deleted or disabled from AD. Using this policy, administrators can remove Microsoft 365 licenses from disabled users, delete mailboxes and home folders of deleted users, and more. The actions configured in the Delete/Disable Policy will be executed right after a user is disabled or deleted.
Schedule and automate Microsoft 365 license removal
With the Delete/Disable Policy, you can remove licenses from user accounts you're disabling, but not for user accounts that were already disabled from your AD prior to implementing ADManager Plus. To do this, you can use the automation feature in ADManager Plus, which lets you automate routine AD tasks like user provisioning and deprovisioning. To automatically remove Microsoft 365 licenses from disabled users, create a new automation to fetch the licensed Microsoft 365 users whose accounts are disabled, select a predefined task from the Automation Task/Policy field, and remove licenses from the disabled users.
Benefits of using ADManager Plus as a Microsoft 365 license removal tool:
- Instantly remove Microsoft 365 licenses when users are disabled from your Active Directory.
- Remove licenses from disabled users in a jiffy.
