Reports

ManageEngine DataSecurity Plus generates reports on every instance of sensitive data found with details on its data type, location, ownership details, and more.

To view reports on sensitive data stored, follow these steps:

  • Select Risk Analysis from the application drop-down.
  • Go to Reports > Record Details.
  • Choose any one of the default reports offered and view the relevant information.

Note: Use the Filter option above the table to selectively view report data based on location, file type, file ownership, risk score, and more.

Confidence level filter

Confidence level is a measure of the reliability or the true value of the sensitive data found.

Filtering the report with a high confidence level will yield sensitive data with a low margin of error, while low confidence levels will yield data instances of every reliability.

Configure confidence level in upcoming data discovery scans using the steps listed below:

  • Select Risk Analysis from the application drop-down.
  • Go to Configuration > Scan Configuration > General Settings.
  • In the Confidence Level drop-down choose your desired value.

Note: DataSecurity Plus recommends choosing High in the Confidence level drop-down as it has the least false positive instances and reduces disk usage rate significantly.

Default report categories

The three default categories of reports offered are:

All records:

It contains the complete list of all instances of sensitive data found across multiple configured data repositories.

Alert records:

It includes all instances of sensitive data whose identification triggered an instantaneous email notification. Email notifications are triggered when personal data relevant to a specific individual or criteria is found based on the alert profiles configured. They help meet data subjects' requests, find specific employee information, and more.

You can configure new alert profiles to find specific instances of sensitive data by following the steps listed here.

To find the list of configured alert profiles, follow the steps listed below:

  • Select Risk Analysis from the application drop-down.
  • Go to Configuration > Data Discovery Settings > Alert Profile.
  • The table lists all configured alert profiles.

Every instance of sensitive data found is cross-verified with the conditions in the configured alert profile, and as soon as they match, a real-time email alert is triggered.

Find the details of the alert triggered during a specific time range by selecting that time range using the Period drop-down.

For each alert triggered, find details such as rule-matched policy, file type, risk score, data source type, location, and more.

Source-type records:

Each report under this category contains all instances of sensitive data specific to a data source, such as Windows file server and Microsoft SQL Server.

To add new Windows file servers, follow the steps listed here.

To add new MS SQL Servers, follow the steps listed here.
