How to install Desktop Central MSP at AWS?

For those who wish to ease their server management using Amazon EC2 instance, can now install Desktop Central MSP at your instance and manage your desktops and mobile devices with ease.

Pre-requisites

Before installing Desktop Central MSP at AWS, ensure that you meet the following pre-requisites

  1. Say if you are planning to manage upto 1000 computers using Desktop Central MSP, we recommend you to have the following instance configurations
    • EC2 instance type m4.xlarge or above
    • OS - Windows server 2008 or above
    • 60 GB memory space

    Note: You may have to change the configurations according to the number of computers you are managing. To know more about creating instance click here or refer this presentation.

  2. Ensure that the instance's Public IP/DNS is not blocked by any firewall and is accessible to all client computers
  3. Open the ports of Desktop Central MSP at Amazon security groups for smooth communication between the Desktop Central MSP server and the client computers

Steps

After purchasing your instance from Amazon web service, you can install Desktop Central MSP at your instance by following the steps given below,

  1. Remotely connect to your EC2 instance
  2. In that instance, open your web browser
  3. Download and install Desktop Central MSP. 

You have now successfully installed the Desktop Central MSP server. To proceed further you have to install Desktop Central MSP agent on the computers you want to manage. You can install agents using any of the below ways,

  1. Install agents manually
  2. Install agents using Windows GPO

Note: When you access the Desktop Central MSP fusing the public IP/DNS address, note that the "Public IP/DNS address" changes when the instance is stopped/terminated. As Desktop Central MSP works on a agent-server model, it is recommended to use an Elastic IP address for uninteruppeted communication between the server and the client computers.
