106023: Deny protocol by access group

Cisco ASA is a security device that provides the combined capabilities of a firewall, an antivirus, and an intrusion prevention system. It also facilitates virtual private network (VPN) connections. It helps to detect threats and stop attacks before they spread through the network.

Message: %ASA-4-106023: Deny protocol src [interface_name :source_address/source_port ] [([idfw_user |FQDN_string ], sg_info )] dst interface_name:dest_address /dest_port [([idfw_user |FQDN_string ], sg_info )] [type {string }, code {code }] by access_group acl_ID [0x8ed66b60, 0xf8852875].

Event 106023 is generated when a real IP packet is denied by the ACL. This message appears even if you do not have the log option enabled for an ACL. The message contains:

  • The source and destination interface information
  • The access group
  • The ID of the Access Control List (ACL).

How could you resolve this situation?

Contact the remote host administrator if this event occurs because of the same source IP address.
