Cisco ASA Audit Event: 313001

313001: ICMP packet denied

Cisco ASA is a security device that provides the combined capabilities of a firewall, an antivirus, and an intrusion prevention system. It also facilitates virtual private network (VPN) connections. It helps to detect threats and stop attacks before they spread through the network.

Message: %ASA-3-313001: Denied ICMP type=number , code=code from IP_address on interface interface_name.

Event 313001 is generated when an 'icmp' command with an access list is used and a 'deny entry' or unmatched entry is encountered. This would make the ASA to discard the ICMP packet.
