325006: IPv6 extension header not in order

Cisco ASA is a security device that provides the combined capabilities of a firewall, an antivirus, and an intrusion prevention system. It also facilitates virtual private network (VPN) connections. It helps to detect threats and stop attacks before they spread through the network.

Message: %ASA-4-325006: IPv6 Extension Header not in order: Type hdr_type occurs after Type hdr_type. TCP prot from inside src_int : src_ipv6_addr /src_port to dst_interface :dst_ipv6_addr /dst_port.

Event 325006 is generated when an IPv6 packet with out-of-order extension headers have been detected.

How could you resolve this situation?

Configure the 'capture' command to record the dropped packet. Then, analyze the cause of the dropped packet. If the validity check of the IPv6 extension header can be ignored, disable the validity check in the IPv6 policy map by entering the following commands:
ciscoasa (config)# policy-map type inspect ipv6 policy_name
ciscoasa (config-pmap)# parameters
ciscoasa (config-pmap-p)# no verify-header type
