Creating Custom Dashboards 

Overview

Endpoint Central provides a range of pre-defined dashboards at the module level to offer deep visibility into respective modules like Inventory, Patch, etc. In addition to these standard dashboards, Endpoint Central allows customers to design and publish Custom Dashboards tailored to their organizational needsCustom Dashboards enable customers to visualise meaningful data, derive insights, and showcase key metrics to operational, management, or audit teams.

Create Custom Dashboards

Prerequisites: Create Custom Reports

Before building a custom dashboard, the required data must be defined as custom reports, since only custom reports can be added to dashboards. To create a custom report, refer the custom report documentation.

Steps to create a custom dashboard

  1. Go to Reports > Custom Dashboards > Create Dashboard.
  2. Enter the dashboard name and description.
  3. Drag and drop the required custom reports into the dashboard layout.
  4. Re-arrange or resize the report widgets as needed to match your preferred visualization formats.
  5. Click Save to publish the dashboard.

Dashboard Status Management

Custom Dashboards have a status indicator that reflects their operational state as below: 

  • Active State: A dashboard is displayed as Active when all associated custom reports are valid and available.
  • Error State: A dashboard moves into Error state if a custom report contains a formula column that is deleted, the custom report becomes invalid. Any dashboard that uses this report will also show an Error state
Handling Deleted Custom Reports:
  • If a custom report used in a dashboard is deleted, the dashboard will automatically remove that report and continue to remain in Active state.
  • If a dashboard uses only one custom report, and that report is deleted, then the dashboard itself will be deleted automatically

Accessing Dashboards in DEX

All the dashboards created under Reports are also visible in the DEX module under DEX > Dashboards. In DEX, you can create dashboard through two ways:

  1. Custom Dashboards using Custom Reports:
    • Works the same way as dashboard creation from the Reports section. 
  2. Custom Dashboards using DEX Extenstions:
    • Allows dashboards to be created using predefined templates available in DEX for specific use cases. 
    • Example: Sustainable IT Dashboard, Windows 11 Readiness Dashboards, etc

Note:

  1. The Custom Dashboard feature is available for customers using UEM Edition or Security Edition.
  2. A single custom dashboard can display up to 20 custom reports.
