Pre-deployment and post-deployment activities

While creating a software package for Windows, you can configure various activities to be carried out before and after installation. You can use these activities to ensure that the software installation is smooth and that the computers in which the software is being installed have all the prerequisites.

Pre-deployment activities

These activities will be performed before the software is installed on the target computers/users. While creating a Software package, you can perform the following pre-deployment configurations and checks:

Conditions

You can set up a condition-check before installation/uninstallation, and based on the result, you can either proceed with installation/uninstallation or skip installation/uninstallation. Following conditions can be checked before a software is installed:

  • Check data on Registry values
  • Check File/Folder
  • Check free disk space
  • Check registry key
  • Check software
