The Client Access server role (CAS) is essential for connectivity to and availability of your mailbox servers. You, as an IT admin, need to monitor client access connectivity to avoid potential problems for your end users.
You can check connectivity by configuring an Exchange test mailbox and running PowerShell scripts that test the connection status. Exchange Reporter Plus eliminates all the hassle scripting causes by running these tests by itself on a system generated test user mailbox-extest <GUID>.
This granular monitoring tool checks the connectivity between the Exchange Server and other components or protocols within your Exchange environment and provides the following reports:
- ActiveSync connectivity
- Outlook Web App connectivity
- Internet Message Access Protocol connectivity
- Post Office Protocol connectivity
- Web Service connectivity
- Exchange Control Panel connectivity
Report on and audit Exchange Online using Exchange Reporter Plus.
ActiveSync connectivity
View the connection status of all ActiveSync devices, including any errors that may occur when users attempt to contact their mailboxes from mobile devices and details such as performance counter name, scenario description, latency in seconds, and the time the test was carried out.
OWA connectivity
View the connection status of Outlook Web App's virtual directories on any Client Access server in Exchange 2010 environments. This report shows whether the attempted OWA connection was a success or a failure and includes additional information such as performance counter name, URL, URL type (external or internal), latency, virtual directory name, and authentication method.
Internet Message Access Protocol connectivity
Check the IMAP4 connection for any specified Client Access server using this report which runs the Powershell commandlet "Test-ImapConnectivity".
Post Office Protocol connectivity
View the results (including any errors) of the Powershell commandlet "Test-PopConnectivity," which checks the POP3 connection for a specified Client Access server.
Web Service Connectivity
Display the results of the "Test-WebServicesConnectivity" commandlet, which tests the client's connection to Exchange web services virtual directories.
Exchange Control Panel connectivity
Display the Exchange Control Panel (ECP) connection status for all ECP virtual directories on a Client Access server, including the connection test result and any relevant errors.
Track and analyze the performance of server roles, and ensure a healthy Exchange server using this handy Exchange monitoring tool. Generate and export the reports to a destination folder and get them to be emailed to you at specified times in several file formats, including CSV, PDF, XLS, and HTML.
