The Execute link in workflow emails redirects to the homepage instead of the Workflow Requests page
Last updated on:In this article:
Issue description
In ADManager Plus, email notifications related to workflow tasks include an Execute link, which allows technicians to approve or reject requests. By default, this link may redirect users to the homepage after login, rather than directly opening the Workflow Requests page.
Starting from build 8020, ADManager Plus provides an option in the UI to configure a custom redirect or load balancer URL. This ensures users are redirected correctly to the Workflow Requests page after logging in via the email link.
Possible causes
- Earlier product builds used a hard-coded redirect to the default dashboard or homepage.
- No centralized setting existed for specifying public or load balancer URLs.
- Email templates may reference internal IPs or hostnames not accessible externally.
Prerequisites
- ADManager Plus must be running on build 8020 or later.
- You must have administrator access to configure settings.
Resolution
Step 1: Configure the load balancing URL
- Log in to ADManager Plus as an administrator.
- Navigate to Support > Support Info > More > Miscellaneous Settings.
- In the Miscellaneous Settings window, locate the field labeled Load balancing URL and click the Edit icon.
- Enter your externally accessible URL, e.g.,https://admanager.company.com.
- Click the Check icon to apply the setting.
Step 2: Validate the workflow email execute link
- Trigger a workflow action (e.g., submit a user creation request).
- Open the associated email notification.
- Click the Execute link in the email.
- Confirm that the redirection leads to your configured URL and that the Workflow Requests page is displayed after login.
Tips
- Always use HTTPS when specifying your redirect or load balancer URL to ensure secure access.
- This configuration applies globally to all Execute links in workflow email notifications.
