How to migrate contacts using ADManager Plus

Seamlessly performing Active Directory migration is necessary during scenarios such as mergers, acquisitions, or organizational restructuring. This involves transferring directory objects such as users, contacts, groups, and policies. Migrating between domains in a trusted forest can be a difficult and time-consuming task.

Steps to migrate contacts using ADManager Plus

1. Log in to ADManager Plus and navigate to Management > Migration > Contact Migration.

   

2. Under Source Settings, you can select the required contacts and the domain from which you want to migrate them.
3. Next, select the Target Domain and the Target OU for these Active Directory contacts.
4. Under OU Option:
   • Migrate objects directly to the selected Target OU as a flat list: Migrate the contacts as they are into the selected target OU.
   • Migrate objects along with their OU hierarchy to the selected Target OU: Migrate the contacts along with the OU they are a part of into the target domain.
5. Under Conflict Handling:
   • Select a customized naming format from the Apply this naming format dropdown. This will be applied to resolve any naming conflicts that might occur during migration.
   • Append or increment the suffix of the contact's conflicted attribute value.
   • Choose not to migrate a duplicate contact, if found, using the Do not migrate if conflict is detected checkbox.
6. Click Preview to view and modify the conflicts and selected contacts, then click Review to view the final list.
7. Click Migrate Now to migrate the contacts.
