24040: Issued a database show plan command

Show plan is a feature in SQL server to read and display query plans. It is an important diagnostic tool to identify and locate problems, in case of any in the SQL server. Event 24040 occurs when a database show plan command has been issued in an SQL server. It is generated by the DATABASE_OPERATION_GROUP action group. Important information can be derived from this event including the:

  • Date and time at which the event occurred.
  • Session identifier of the event.
  • Privileged user who performed the action.
  • Database associated with the event.
