In the last two weeks, we saw the various settings available under the block users tab and general tab. Now let me take you through the advanced policy settings available under the Password Sync tab.
The first option - force synchronization of passwords across all linked accounts - automatically synchronizes the passwords across all the users' linked accounts when they reset their Active Directory password.
Enable this option to force users to have the same login credentials across all their linked accounts.
The second option - allow users to deselect Active Directory during reset/unlock operations - allows users to deselect Active Directory during reset password and account unlock operations. They will be able to reset passwords of their Google Apps account, Office 365 account, etc., without affecting their Windows password.
Enable this option if you want to provide password self-service op tion for non-Windows accounts, but still want to maintain separate passwords between the various accounts.
The third option - run custom script to sync password with other providers - allows you to run custom scripts to perform certain actions after password reset. You can run scripts to sync passwords between two Active Directory domains or between Active Directory and any other provider you want.
