CVE-2026-74849 describes a remote code execution vulnerability in the GINA client, the self-service reset password and unlock account portal that ADSelfService Plus presents on the Windows logon screen through an embedded (kiosk) browser. An attacker with access to the Windows logon screen may exploit the embedded browser to execute code in the SYSTEM context, potentially leading to full compromise of the affected host.
A security issue in the GINA client's embedded browser can be leveraged to execute code in the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM context, resulting in full compromise of the affected host. It can be exploited by an unauthenticated attacker with access to the Windows logon screen.
This issue has been resolved in ADSelfService Plus build 7001 by correcting the application's error handling and hardening the embedded logon-screen browser.
Update your ADSelfService Plus instance to build 7001 or later using the service pack.
