Exchange Management

Active Directory Exchange management tools

Microsoft Exchange Server is the backbone of the messaging service in most organizations, and it works in synchronization with Active Directory. For any administrator, managing Microsoft Exchange Server is as important as managing Windows Active Directory. However, under the existing management architecture, an administrator has to constantly toggle between ADUC, Exchange Systems Manager, Exchange Management Console, PowerShell, and Exchange Management Shell.

Using the native Exchange and Active Directory tools, it is an extremely tedious and taxing task to monitor and control Windows Active Directory and Exchange to ensure optimum performance. Moreover, it is not possible for administrators to manage Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007/2010/2013/2016 servers simultaneously in a single console. Even allowing help desks to just create mailboxes alone is not viable as the help desk must be granted full organization rights to create mailboxes. Also, the existing Exchange management console does not provide any support to set mailbox properties like mailbox size, mailbox recipient, and mailbox recovery while creating mailboxes for users. Organizations need software that implements all these administrative needs into features.

Keeping in mind the demands for efficient administration of Active Directory and Exchange Server, ADManager Plus, an AD and Exchange management tool, offers the following features:

  • All-in-one user management console: Enables management of Exchange Server and Active Directory from a single console.
  • Multi-mode operational console: Allows administrators to manage both Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013/2016 simultaneously from a single console.
  • Runtime mailbox provisioning: Create no-mail, mailbox-enabled, or mail-enabled users and set mailbox properties as you create them. Alternatively, you can create a mailbox with the minimum required attributes and then configure the rest later.
  • Mailbox management delegation: Administrators can delegate help desks the rights of creating and setting mailbox properties by assigning the ready-to-use "ADManager Plus templates" to help desks. They can also implement business workflows to monitor these tasks as and when the help desk technicians execute them.
  • Disable or delete Exchange mailboxes: Deleting a user's Exchange mailbox becomes a simple GUI activity in ADManager Plus, freeing you from having to toggle between ADUC and Exchange's native tools.
  • Manage shared mailboxes: Effortlessly create and modify shared mailboxes in different versions of Exchange.
  • Manage resource mailboxes: Easily create and modify resource (room and equipment) mailboxes in different versions of Exchange Server.
  • Create remote mailboxes: Remote mailboxes can be created in Exchange Server 2010, 2013, and 2016 while provisioning new AD accounts for users individually, as well as in bulk.
Finally, adding to the myriad of amenities, ADManager Plus alleviates the administrative burden by enabling the creation of mailboxes and setting mailbox properties for bulk users just by importing a CSV file.

Exchange mailbox creation

Exchange mailbox creation for users is a task that AD administrators must perform to facilitate business communication via email. With ADManager Plus, the easy-to-use Exchange management and reporting tool, administrators can create mailboxes as well as set mailbox properties during user creation. The following are the property modifications that can be carried out along with mailbox creation.

  • You can set mailbox rights for users in bulk.
  • In Exchange 2007/2010/2013/2016 Server, you can set mailbox rights only using the Exchange Management Shell, but with ADManager Plus, you can carry out all the Exchange tasks in the product itself.

  • Delete the mailboxes of multiple users in one single operation.
  • Disable or delete mailboxes for different versions of Exchange from one single console.
  • Locate the users whose mailboxes have to be deleted by using the search option or by providing the list of users using the CSV import option.

ADManager Plus' Exchange Mailbox Migration feature simplifies the process of migrating Exchange Server mailboxes between different versions of Exchange (2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016).

Shared, remote, and resource mailbox management

ADManager Plus allows easy creation and modification of shared mailboxes and resource (room and equipment) mailboxes in different versions of Exchange Server. It also facilitates creation of remote mailboxes in Exchange Server 2010, 2013, and 2016, while provisioning new AD accounts for users individually, as well as in bulk.

In addition to these Exchange management capabilities, ADManager Plus also allows administrators to obtain reports related to their organization's Exchange environment. These reports contain information onExchange Server; distribution lists; delivery recipient settings; and Exchange features such as OMA, OWA, POP3, ActiveSync, and IMAP4. Administrators can export these reports in multiple formats and schedule them to be generated automatically at the desired times.

Benefits of using ADManager Plus for Exchange Server and Exchange mailbox management:

  • Create and manage different Exchange Server versions and AD from a single console.
  • Set up mail-enabled and mailbox-enabled user properties while creating users.
  • Eliminate the need to use Exchange Management Console and Exchange Management Shell.
