The specified server cannot perform the requested operation!

Problem

You can see the error message "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation" on the screen when you try to do either of the following:

1. Copying the image creator component during image creation.
2. Accessing image/driver repository.

Cause

This error occurs when you're trying to access a remote network share but are unable to do so due to multiple reasons. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

Resolution

If you cannot gain access to a computer even after the folder is shared, you may have to open the registry and perform the following actions on the computer where the network share is available:

1. Click start -> run then type services.msc. Restart server services.
2. Try accessing the Windows shared folder again from the target machine.
3. Restart the PC if the problem still exists.

If the problem still exists, follow the steps given below

1. Click start -> run then type regedit.
2. Go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache and set the registry key to "1".
3. Go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size and set the registry key to 3.
4. Click start -> run then type services.msc. Restart server services.
5. Try accessing the Windows shared folder again from the target machine.
6. Restart the PC if the problem still exists.
