Patch Configuration Failure - "Draft Download Failed"

Problem

You are trying to deploy patches of Microsoft/other vendors. However Patch Configuration fails with error message: "Draft - Download Failed".

Cause

The possible reasons could be:

  1. Proxy might not have been configured. (or) Authentication provided in the proxy settings does not have necessary privileges to download EXE files.
  2. You do not have access to download EXE files from the respective Software Vendor site.

Resolution

  1. Add the proxy settings. Go to Admin --> Proxy settings --> Type the appropriate user name and password along with IP. The user specified should have the permission to download the exe file.
  2. Given below are the list of the sites from where Desktop Central downloads the patches. The proxy credential supplied should have access to download the executables from these sites:

      Microsoft Applications:

    1. http://download.microsoft.com - for Microsoft applications

      Third-party Applications:

    1. http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/  - for Mozila Firefox & Mozilla Thunderbird
    2. http://ardownload.adobe.com  - for Adobe patches
    3. http://fpdownload.macromedia.com  - for Adobe Shockwave Player
    4. http://fpdownload.adobe.com  - for Adobe Flash Player
    5. http://airdownload.adobe.com - for Adobe AIR
    6. http://javadl.sun.com  - for Java updates
    7. http://cache-download.real.com - for Real player
    8. http://*.oracle.com/ - for JRE 1.7
    9. http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ - for Open Office
    10. http://dl.google.com - for Google chrome s
    11. http://appldnld.apple.com - Quick time player, Itunes 
    12. http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp - for Mozilla Firefox 3.6

      Mac Applications:

    1. http://support.apple.com/ - for Mac OS updates & JRE 1.6

      Linux Applications:

    1. http://archive.ubuntu.com/ - for Ubuntu patches and dependencies
    2. http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ - for Debian patches and dependencies
    3. http://mirror.centos.org/ - for CentOS patches and dependencies
    4. https://access.redhat.com/ - for Red Hat Enterprise Linux patches and dependencies
    5. https://updates.suse.com/ - for Suse Linux Enterprise patches and dependencies
