Shipping giant becomes victim of a ransomware attack twice in a year

US mailing services company, Pi tney Bowes, has once again fallen victim to a ransomware attack less than a year after experiencing a previous ransomware attack. In October 2019, the company's customer services were disrupted by Ryuk ransomware. In the latest incident, the Maze group is believed to be the perpetrators.

The Maze group has released a number of screenshots on its forum of the systems in the company's network to prove its involvement in the attack. Data shown in the released Pit ney Bowes screenshots includes employees’ folders, customers, accounts, management policies, training information, etc.

Pitn ey Bowes spokesperson said, “We are working with our third-party security consultants, we immediately took critical steps to thwart the attack before data could be encrypted. At this point, there is no evidence of further unauthorized access to our IT systems. The investigation remains ongoing.”
