    Move EventLog Analyzer Database to Different Directory in Same Server


    This procedure is applicable for EventLog Analyzer version 8.0 (Build 8010) onwards

    This procedure is applicable for EventLog Analyzer version 8.0 (Build 8000) or earlier

    How to find build number?

    In the EventLog Analyzer web client, and click Help > About link in the top pane. You will find the build number mentioned below the build version. This is the build number of the currently installed EventLog Analyzer.

    Moving MSSQL Database

    1. Stop the Eventlog Analyzer Server/Service.

    2. Login to SQL Server database with system administrator permissions.

    3. Find the current location of the data file and log file for the database eventlog by using the following commands:

    use eventlog
    go
    sp_helpfile
    go

    1. Detach the database by using the following commands:

    use  master
    go
    sp_detach_db 'eventlog'
    go

    1. Copy the data file and log file from the current location (<MSSQL Home>dataeventlog.mdf and <MSSQL Home>dataeventlog_log.LDF)
      to the new location (<New location>eventlog.mdf and <New Location>eventlog_log.LDF).

    2. Re-attach the database and point to the new location by using the following commands:

    use  master
    go
    sp_attach_db 'eventlog' , '<New Location>eventlog.mdf' , '<New Location>eventlog_log.LDF'
    go

    1. Verify the changed location by using the following commands:

    use eventlog
    go
    sp_helpfile
    go

    1. Start the Eventlog Analyzer Server/Service.

    To move the EventLog Analyzer Indexes to a different drive/directory on the same server

    To move the EventLog Analyzer Indexes to a different drive/directory on the same server use the menu option

    • Settings tab>Archives option>Settings>Archived files page>Settings>File Archive settings page> Index Location
    Note: If you are sharing a Network device, then provide its UNC path and ensure that EventLog Analyzer service account has read/write permissions for that drive

     

    Change the location of the index using the 'Edit' link besides the Index Location field.

    To move the EventLog Analyzer database to a different drive/directory on the same server

     

    This procedure is applicable for EventLog Analyzer version 8.0 (Build 8000) or earlier

    Moving MySQL Database

    1. Stop the Eventlog Analyzer Server/Service.

    2. Check the task manager for the process 'mysqld-nt.exe' and 'SysEvtCol.exe', kill the process if any of these processes are running.

    3. Copy the 'data' folder under <Eventlog Analyzer Home>mysql to a folder in another drive. (for example: D:Eventlogdata)

    4. Kindly rename the present 'data' folder under 'mysql' as 'dataold' and you can delete later.

    5. Edit (in notepad) the file "StartDB.bat", which is located under <Eventlog Analyzer Home>bin folder and edit the following command in the mysql startup line:

    "--datadir=%DB_HOME%data" as "--datadir=D:Eventlogdata"

    whereas, the D:Eventlogdata is the new folder on D: drive.

    1. Save the file.

    2. Start the Eventlog Analyzer Server/Service.

    3. Check whether the data is fine and the D:Eventlogdata size is getting increased.
