Getting started with Modern Management

With the onset of current technological trends, organizations are taking a big leap towards enterprise mobility and security. To cope-up with such trends, Endpoint Central adopts the approach of Modern Management. To unleash the Modern Management capabilities, ensure you are using the Endpoint Central - UEM Edition.

Benefits of using UEM edition

  1. Manage desktops and laptops with Windows 10 and later OS versions, macOS, mobile devices and surface pro tablets from a single suite.
  2. Streamline your license management with ease. Mobile Device Management is no longer an add-on. Puchase licenses to manage computers and mobile devices as endpoints and unify your license management.

How UEM works?

Our UEM Edition is exclusively packaged to cater the needs of enterprises looking for one solution for all the system management needs. UEM edition serves as a centralized expertise, that could help system administrators manage everything right from desktops to modern mobile devices from a single console.

  1. The first step to manage endpoints is to include all the network computers under Endpoint Central's Scope of Management. Ensure that all the ports used by the product are not blocked by the network firewall.
  2. The next step is to configure NAT settings from: Admin->Server Settings->NAT Settings. Fill in the public FQDN/IP of the NAT device in the space provided. Secure agent-server communication with a secure gateway.
  3. Once you are done with these two steps, all the computers running in Windows 10 OS will be listed under Mobile Device Management tab -> Enrollment -> Laptop and Surface pro enrollment from where you will have to assign a user to that particular machine.
  4. Note: When you install the endpoint central agent, the MDM agent is automatically deployed to facilitate seamless co-management of your devices. Similarly, when you install the MDM profile, the endpoint central agent is also automatically deployed. These settings can be configured by navigating to agent -> SoM Settings.

After completing the enrollment process, you can leverage the following Modern Management capabilities.

  1. Geo Tracking

Know how to locate all the managed Windows 10 & above laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

  2. Corporate or Selective Wipe

All the configurations and applications that were installed using Endpoint Central will be wiped out. This will not disturb any personal data other than the corporate data which has been distributed through Endpoint Central. This endpoint will no longer be managed by Endpoint Central. In case of Windows device, this action will be performed only when the device contacts the Endpoint Central server.

  3. Complete Wipe

All the data in the endpoint will be completely wiped out. The endpoint will become as good as new. You can also wipe all the data from the SD card, for SAFE and KNOX devices. In case of Windows devices, the enrollment is retained (OS version 1803) even after the data is wiped. If PPKG enrollment is used for other devices, the provisioning package is retained. The endpoint can be used again by just assigning new users.

  4. KIOSK mode

Read and find how to distribute applications in KIOSK mode.

  5. Windows store app distribution

Distribute Windows store apps to Windows 10 & above laptops, desktops, surface pro tablets by adding the software packages.

  6. Distribute Profiles ( restrictions and configurations)

Impose policies and restrictions to the managed Windows 10 & above computers, tablets and mobile devices.

  7. Distribute Certificates with SCEP

Read and understand how certificates can be distributed using SCEP.
