General troubleshooting tips for File Analysis Scanning

  • Some folders or files are missing in the report. What should I do?

If folders or files are missing in the report, the reason might be that the account used for scanning lacks the required permission. Depending upon the environment those files and folders belong to, you can fix this by following these steps:

    • For Windows file servers or workgroup servers:

Ensure that all missing folders or files are provided with system Read permission or that Read permissions are assigned to the configured domain user account.

    • For SMB file servers:

Ensure that the missing folders or files are provided with NTFS Read permission to the configured domain user account.

Note: If the issue still persist, contact support@datasecurityplus.com

  • What are the minimum privileges required for analyzing SMB servers?

The configured domain user account should be granted with Read permissions in both share and NTFS permissions to scan SMB shares. Refer to the minimum privileges guide for more information.
