Router log auditing

Router log auditing tool

Routers are the building blocks of any computer network, directing the flow of traffic in your network. You need to ensure your routers are configured and working correctly in order to keep your network secure.

Syslog data from your routers contains valuable information, giving you a clear picture of activity in your network. Auditing logs from your routers not only helps you mitigate potential attacks on your network, but also plays a role in forensic investigation. But monitoring your routers can be challenging because of the massive amounts of network traffic that passes through them on a daily basis. Most events occur every day, so it can be hard to identify anomalous events that actually threaten your network security.

Audit your router logs and secure your network with EventLog Analyzer

EventLog Analyzer provides out-of-the-box support for routers and other network devices. It scans your network and discovers routers and other syslog devices that can be added for auditing. EventLog Analyzer's predefined audit reports give you insights into network activity, while its real-time alerts help you detect suspicious activity instantly.

With EventLog Analyzer, you can track admin logons and the router configuration changes made by those admins. The configuration reports ensure that all the changes made to your network's configuration are authorized and don't create any loopholes in your network security. You can track link states to keep tabs on whether they are up or down and also audit router errors to minimize network downtime.

Router logs contain information on the traffic that has passed through your network. So, when something goes wrong, they and other network device logs play a crucial role in conducting a forensic investigation. EventLog Analyzer lets you backtrack security incidents with its powerful log search engine to find out exactly what happened.

  • The best thing, I like about the application, is the well structured GUI and the automated reports. This is a great help for network engineers to monitor all the devices in a single dashboard. The canned reports are a clever piece of work.

  • EventLog Analyzer has been a good event log reporting and alerting solution for our information technology needs. It minimizes the amount of time we spent on filtering through event logs and provides almost near real-time notification of administratively defined alerts.

  • I love the alerts feature of the product. We are able to send immediate alerts based on pretty much anything we can think of. We send alerts when certain accounts login, or when groups are changed, etc. That has been very helpful. Also the automatic archive of the log files has been very helpful and has taken the worry out of keeping old logs. The “Ask Me” function is very nice as well. It is great to have some natural language queries built in where you can just click a button and get an answer.
