Monitoring user activity in routers

Monitoring user activity in routers

When it comes to network security, risks associated with routers pose a serious concern. Networks with loose security policies make it easy for intruders to gain access to the network and steal internet bandwidth, sensitive information, or launch an attack. As most breaches are caused by an insider with malicious intent or a hacker using the credentials of a legitimate user, monitoring router activity is crucial.

EventLog Analyzer closely analyzes all user logon activities and generates detailed reports to help you track router users, check who's logging on from which device and what method of authentication they're using. These reports are predefined and customizable, schedulable for automated delivery, available in multiple formats, and best of all, easy to understand. You can also configure alerts for critical events that notify you in real time either via SMS or email.

EventLog Analyzer's exhaustive user activity reports are generated from a centralized console, making them easy to access. The router logon reports are classified as follows:

Successful logons:

View all the users who have successfully logged on to routers in your network, and which devices they used. Organize logon information based on users, devices, and remote devices, or view trends for all logon activities.

Failed logons:

See which users were unable to log on to routers in your network either due to a bad password or authentication failure. The router failed logons are grouped based on users, devices, and remote devices, making the data easily accessible.

SSH logons:

Track all the users and devices that have used Secure Shell (SHH) to log on to routers in your network. View successful, failed, and closed SSH logons based on user, device, and remote device.

VPN logons:

View reports based on router VPN logs. Keep tabs on router VPN failed logons, as well as router VPN authorization errors and authentication errors based on interface and users.

Closely monitor the activities in all your routers.

  • The best thing, I like about the application, is the well structured GUI and the automated reports. This is a great help for network engineers to monitor all the devices in a single dashboard. The canned reports are a clever piece of work.
