How to discover a select range of devices?


To discover devices from a selected range specify the start and end IP address and select the Netmask for the devices to be discovered within that range.

  • Click the Settings > Discovery tab > Discovery. 
  • Under Discovery, choose IP Range to specify the range.
  • Start IP: Specify the IP address of the device in the range from where OpManager should start discovery.
  • End IP: Specify the IP address till which OpManager should discover.
  • Click on 'Add' button. You can also add multiple range of IPs in a single discovery profile.

Netmask: Select the correct netmask.

Credentials : Click on NEXT to choose among the configured Credentials to be used for discovery.

You can also Add new credential by clicking on Add New Credential button.

Rule: Click on NEXT to choose the configured Rule Engine to be applied for the selected IP range of devices during discovery. (You can create new rule engine from Settings > Configuration tab > Rule Engine > Add Rule)

Interface: Click on NEXT to choose Enable/Disable Interface discovery for those devices. You can also Enable particular interface types and filter with Interfaces having particular Admin/Oper status.

Schedule: Click on NEXT to choose when to run/schedule this discovery profile.

Email Notification: Click on NEXT to configure the Email address to which the schedule discovery reports has to be sent. The email will be received once the discovery is run at the scheduled time configured in Schedule page.

Discovery Summary : Click on NEXT to review the Discovery profile summary. Now choose SAVE to save the profile. To execute the profile right now, click on SAVE and EXECUTE button.

A discovery progress notification pop-up will appear once the discovery started running. (You can disable the pop-up from Settings > System Settings > Discovery > Discovery Progress Notification > No)

Once the discovery is completed, check the Inventory tab to see the discovered devices are added into OpManager.
