About Sim:

Business challenge: Troubled troubleshooting
Sim is comprised of a data center and 100 servers, and operates nine branches in North America. Before deploying ManageEngine OpManager to monitor its network, the network administrators at Sim had a difficult time trying to troubleshoot their network. After evaluating several vendors in the network monitoring sector, it zeroed in on OpManager because of its affordability and usability.
"We had evaluated SolarWinds but decided to go with OpManager as we have other services from ManageEngine", says Chirag Patel, who works as an IT and network security engineer at Sim.
The OpManager factor
The entertainment company upped its game after deploying OpManager. Utilizing the integrated network management solution daily, OpManager has helped Sim: Monitor the health and performance of routers, switches, and servers, and gain in-depth visibility into important CPU metrics like utilization, speed, idle time, and processor time that are directly tied to its network performance.
More benefits
OpManager helps Sim determine how much bandwidth its devices and interfaces are using, and helps Sim mitigate the effects of packet loss by providing more visibility into it.
"As a media company, minimum packet loss is always the target for all our streaming services. It's even more important now with employees and clients working from home. Also constant bandwidth monitoring data helps the team to control the uploads/downloads," Patel said.
When asked about the features he loves most about OpManager, Patel includes user specific dashboards, easy installation and setup, business view maps, and rack view.
A good tool is an investment
Sim estimates it now saves about $21,000 annually since implementing OpManager: $1,000 in downtime expenses, $10,000 by eliminating or delaying additional hardware purchases, and $10,000 on the cost of maintenance.
